Server Administration

Monthly server care with a fixed work list, a request channel and a report. You see what the package covers and what is a separate task.

What Server Administration Includes

Server Administration is the ongoing engineering of the operating system, services, access and backups so business systems stay up without the owner doing it by hand. The ITFB package includes a technical audit, scheduled package and kernel updates, disk space control, log rotation, web server, database and mail configuration, restore-tested backups, and incident response within an agreed time. The administrator keeps an access register: who holds root, which keys are live, which ports face the internet, which cron jobs still run. The same package covers baseline hardening — key-only SSH, least privilege, timely TLS certificates, traffic filtering — and a monthly report of work done, incidents and remaining risks. Without that routine a server accumulates debt: stale PHP or libraries, forgotten staging hosts, 777 permissions, archives nobody has ever restored. Those are what cause downtime or a breach. Before start ITFB records the server list, OS versions and current access, logs every change and keeps a request channel, so developers are not the ones patching infrastructure and the owner can see the package boundary: what runs every month, what is a separate task, and what stays the customer responsibility.

About the Service

Server Administration helps companies keep servers, websites, internal systems and business applications predictable without constant manual supervision from owners or in-house teams.

ITFB works with Linux, Windows, VPS/VDS, hosting and dedicated servers for businesses in Ukraine: we handle audits, configuration, regular support, monitoring and incident response.

The package now holds the full work list that used to live under “what server administration includes”: scheduled updates, access inventory, restore-tested backups, monitoring, incident response and a monthly report.

Application development, large migrations, licence purchases and one-off projects such as a cloud move stay outside the package. Those are scoped separately so the monthly price is not a catch-all.

When to Request It

  • the server is unstable, slow to respond or periodically unavailable;
  • you need to transfer Administration to an external team with 24/7 support;
  • a new website, CRM, ERP, corporate portal or business service is being launched;
  • you need clear ownership of access, backups, updates and server responsibility.

What Is Included

  • technical audit of the server, operating system, network settings, web stack and critical services;
  • installation, updates, baseline hardening and configuration optimization for real workloads;
  • monitoring setup for availability, resources, disks, error logs and core performance metrics;
  • scheduled maintenance, ticket handling, developer consultations and infrastructure improvement advice.
  • inventory of accounts, SSH keys, sudo rights and exposed ports;
  • backup checks by a restore drill, not by the archive existing on disk;
  • log rotation plus inode and disk-space control so the host does not stop “suddenly”;
  • watch of TLS certificates, domains and cron jobs;
  • a monthly report: updates, incidents, risks and work that sits outside the package.

What You Get

  • server infrastructure becomes more stable and emergency downtime risk is reduced;
  • the team gets a clear support channel and predictable task handling;
  • the business controls access, backups, updates and technical risks.

How We Work

  1. we analyze the current server state and identify critical points;
  2. we agree priorities, SLA, maintenance windows and communication format;
  3. we configure, optimize and document the changes;
  4. we connect monitoring and support the infrastructure after launch.

FAQ

What does monthly server administration include?

OS and package updates in an agreed window, disk and log control, backup checks, availability monitoring, ticket handling to SLA, an access register and a written report. The list is in the contract so the package is not verbal.

What sits outside the package?

Application development and refactoring, large migrations, building a new environment from scratch, licence purchases and one-off work with no runbook. Those are scoped after a short audit.

Which systems do you cover?

Linux and Windows, VPS/VDS, dedicated hosts and cloud machines. Web stack, databases, mail and control panels after an inventory at start, not a blind catch-all.

Do you respond at night and on weekends?

Yes, for critical unavailability under the agreed SLA. Scheduled updates stay in a window you confirm, so a night incident is not mixed with daytime maintenance.
